Let's break the phenomenon up into different parts, shall we? 1 - TROLLING Trolling is allowed. It has always been like that. I'd rather let anons have their five minutes occasionally (especially when nobody's talking anyway) than kick people 'for trolling'. As long as it's not screwing up a good conversation, not repetitive, I don't mind it. If there's a good convo going on and some anon keeps screwing it up, then sure. But don't be too annoyed by some random anon posting b/s in chat when nobody's talking anyway. 2 - FLOODING If someone's flooding and I'm there, it's always handled and you all know this (even then I ask nicely for them to stop, works in 80% of the cases, surprisingly). We recently talked about how to handle it when I'm not there, and I had some ideas of my own as well. Sooner or later there will be an option to kick flooders. On the other hand, I've just checked the logs and there was hardly any real flooding lately, especially one that screwed up real chat. I believe your grievances are more about trolling. 3 - SPECIFICS [ "regulars are told by the Admin that .there.s nothing wrong. and it.s .just the usual. when they complain, those regulars are only left with one option to deal with the things that are bothering them" ] That is correct! Don't tell me you've never seen anons trolling me, calling me names, talking rubbish for pages... Have I kicked any of them? No I haven't. You can't let shit like this bother you. This is freedom of speech for everyone. Anons and regs as well. If you're that bothered by people talking smack, then this really isn't the right place for you, I agree. But then don't use phrases such as "continues to deteriorate". This has always been the deal. I'll be more than happy to give you mod powers to kick users, but that WILL NOT fix YOUR problem, only the flooding part (which is rare). Even if I do create kicking permissions, you will not be allowed to kick whoever you want just because you believe they are 'trolling' or not contributing to the conversation in a way that you expect. [ "Everyone keeps telling me .if you leave they win." ] There are no "they". There is only you and the way you look at chatter. There is no winning or losing, either. The room we're talking about is the room for /incoming. You should treat it as such: random flow of material which is sometimes toxic, sometimes unique and original, sometimes funny, etc. You have to look for the gems you like, and ignore the rest. I understand that after a while, as a regular (meaning you get to know more and more people, and start to engage in less random chats) you start to expect a better controlled environment, I really do. But I'm here to tell you that the basic idea of the chatroom is staying the same, and will continue to allow freedom of speech even if it doesn't comply with your (understandable) expectations that have developed over time. [ "The night before last there was a Chinese kid wanting everyone to learn Chinese, and teach him English; interesting. But, not what I go there for." ] That's kind of funny if you ask me. Or should I have kicked that guy too, "for c4c to stay the same" ? [ "I.m not gonna tell c4c how to run his show." ] I'm not running any shows. Everyone is adding to the show. You can look at it, not look at it, add to it, not add to it. It's that simple. I've never kicked chatters unless they spammed, asked for CP, flooded, etc. And I'm not gonna start now. [ "But, with the current show that.s playing, I.ll be sitting out." ] The "current show" is what you see on your screen, basically. I really don't see a point in generalizing. I've seen a cool convo just the other night. Before that, some trolling. If you see a show you don't like, then "be sitting out". If you see a better show five minutes later, join in. It's not that hard. Bawwwing over "how it is generally" doesn't make much sense, because it's always different. It changes by the minute.
